The Classical Association of Scotland Edinburgh & South-East Centre's Data Use and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy 

CAS ESEC would like to assure you that it takes the responsibility of holding and using your data very seriously.

This policy is grounded in UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which took effect on 25th May 2018, and has been reviewed in light of the new Data (Use and Access) Act (DUAA), which received Royal Assent on 19th June 2025.

Collection of Data

CAS ESEC collects the following personal data from its members when they join or renew their subscription: name, postal address, email address, and telephone number. We cannot process your membership subscription without this information. We take all reasonable precautions to maintain the security and protection of any information we hold.

How we use your Personal Data

We do not use your data to sell you outside products or services, and we do not store it for any analysis or other use.

We only use your personal data in the following ways:

  • To communicate with you via email to let you know the latest news about CAS ESEC and its lectures, events etc.

  • To communicate with you via email to let you know about events or news from the national body, the Classical Association of Scotland (CAS).

Sharing your Personal Data

We do not share your personal data with third parties or anyone outside of CAS ESEC and CAS, apart from in the highly unlikely event that it is required for crime prevention, safeguarding, responding to emergencies, and other specified legitimate interests.

Internally, your details are on our Members’ Contact List, which can only be accessed by the Secretary and Treasurer for the purposes outlined above. If you also pay your membership to CAS via CAS ESEC, we will share your details with the Secretary of the CAS.

Your details are not accessible by ourselves or any third party via the website.

Retaining your Personal Information 
We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

Right to Rectification

If you believe that the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, please contact us as soon as possible so we can update it.

Removal from Mailing List

If you wish to be removed from CAS ESEC’s Members’ Mailing List and therefore any future correspondence from CAS ESEC, please email or contact the Secretary at casedsec@gmail.com. If you do not contact the Secretary, they will continue to keep in touch via email. You may let them know at any time if you wish to be deleted from the Mailing List.
